Head and Neck cancers we treat

Why choose us for head and neck tumor care?

Our team includes fellowship-trained head and neck surgeons who are highly experienced. Surgeons work alongside other head and neck cancer experts, such as medical oncologists and radiation oncologists.

We treat the full range of head and neck cancers, including throat cancer, thyroid cancer and laryngeal (voice box) cancer. No two cancer patients are the same, which is why our team works together to meticulously plan your personalized care.

Accurate diagnosis and coordinated care

At Mays Cancer Center, you can expect to receive a comprehensive diagnostic workup. Depending on the cancer, this may include high-resolution imaging such as a computed tomography (CT) scan. You may receive advanced testing using endoscopy (a thin tube with a camera and instruments) as part of a comprehensive evaluation.

Our team includes head and neck surgeons, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, imaging experts, speech therapists and other specialists. We discuss complex cases during regular head and neck cancer tumor boards. The team reviews your test results and tailors treatment recommendations, so you receive the most appropriate course of care for your needs.

We offer advanced therapies, including reconstructive surgery. Highly skilled surgeons repair or replace bones and other intricate parts of the head and face that cancer treatment may affect. Find out more about head and neck reconstructive therapy.

Personalized head and neck cancer support

You are not alone in your head and neck cancer care journey. A dedicated head and neck cancer nurse navigator coordinates many of the appointments you need and is available to answer your questions.

We also coordinate services to relieve discomfort and help you push past challenges with speaking and swallowing. Your care may include advice on a healthy diet from our nutritionist, or speech therapy during cancer treatment.
